Amy Atkins

Amy Atkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Alabama in 1994. She completed a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1999. As a nurse practitioner, she has provided care in a variety of settings, including obstetrics and gynecology, rheumatology, and weight loss. Amy has worked at NorthRiver Wellness and Weight Loss for the last 8 years. She enjoys providing care that improves her patients' quality of life and finds great fulfillment in witnessing their health transformations.

Amy is originally from Tuscaloosa, and she is married to Stewart Atkins, a physical therapist at Professional Therapy Services. Together, they have a son (Grant), three daughters (Katherine, Kayleigh, and Lindy), and two sons-in-law (JP and Brock). Outside of her professional role, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family and their two Shelties. She is also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa.

Erica Colley

Erica Colley

Erica Colley earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Samford University in 2021 and continued her education at Samford, completing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 2024. She began practicing as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) here at NorthRiver Wellness and Weight Loss. Erica is passionate about overall health and wellness, both personally and professionally, and she enjoys educating her patients and empowering them with the tools they need to live healthier lives.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Erica has lived in Northport, since 2022. She has been married to her husband, Stephen for 3 years. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs-Sammie, a golden retriever, and Dash, an Aussiedoodle. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family and exploring new places through travel. She and her husband are actively involved in Capstone Community Church.

Jill Hobbs

Jill Hobbs

Jill Hobbs earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from The University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing, in 2001. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2005, followed by a Post-Master's Family Nurse Practitioner Program at UAB in 2007. In 2018, she earned her Educational Doctorate for Nurse Educators from The University of Alabama. As a nurse practitioner, she has provided care in a variety of settings, including hematology/oncology, acute and critical care, urgent care, primary care, and wellness and weight loss clinics.

Originally from Dothan, Alabama, Jill has lived in Northport, Alabama, since 2007. She is married to Greg Hobbs, and they have two children, Emma Grace and Jackson. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Hobbs enjoys spending time with her family, participating in church activities, and serving her community. She volunteers at the Good Samaritan Clinic and is actively involved in ministry and outreach through her church, Journey Church.

Brandi Lester

Brandi Lester

Brandi Lester completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the Capstone College of Nursing and went on to earn her Master's degree from Samford University. She has been practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner since then, and is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals and families across the lifespan. As an NP, she been fortunate to serve her community, allowing her to grow both personally and professionally.

Brandi is originally from Tuscaloosa and currently lives in Moundville with her husband Tony. They have been married for 25 years and have three wonderful children-Charlie Mak, Bubba, and Bo-and a beloved dog named Buddy. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, supporting her kids' activities, and staying engaged her church and community. What she enjoys most about being a nurse practitioner is forming lasting relationships with patients and helping them achieve better health outcomes. Brandi mainly works at our Moundville clinic

Tonya Shanahan

Tonya Shanahan

Tonya Shanahan began her nursing journey with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Alabama in 1996, followed by a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Mississippi University for Women in 2007. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Samford University in 2016. Tonya also holds a Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine, which enables her to develop personalized, evidence-based plans to support patients in reaching their weight and wellness goals.

She lives in Northport with her husband, Tim. They have been married for 20 years and are blessed with four children and their spouses (her bonus children), 1 son Tyler Gaddy (Rachel), 3 daughters, Brittany Deason (Michael), Taylor Thompson (Austin) and Morgan Perkins (Pratt), and eight grandchildren-with more likely on the way! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the baseball park cheering on her grandsons, taking beach trips in the summer, and trips to the mountains in the winter. Tonya mainly works at our Moundville clinic.
